Description
The fine diameter and strength of today's super braids lets you pack on a tremendous amount of fighting power into a compact reel. Few reels are built for this type of punishment, but one stands out from the crowd, the tough and narrow 2015 Saltiga overhead series.
Overheads can be difficult to jig with but with Saltiga's narrow design it makes it a lot easier. Traditionally jigging with threadlines is easier because of the balance point below the rod. The new designed compact and narrow Saltiga overheads utilize a smaller side plate for ease of handling and a huge drop down gearbox keeping the axis point lower for improved balance, virtually eliminating side overbalance.
Daiwa's advanced gear design, Hyper Digigear, delivers it's telltale precision, to create a reel that has few peers when it comes to smoothness. Silky smooth on the crank and flawless under load the Saltiga is purity and precision in true Daiwa style. Combine this with the powerful, unyielding ATD drag system that gives you the power and poise to take control of whatever crosses your angling path. A new large clicking alloy star drag puts this control in easy reach, with its super light, ergonomic design making it easier than ever to crank the power up when needed.
The narrow spool design allows for line to lie evenly even without having to manually lay the line, a real bonus when you are hooked up on a fish of a lifetime. Added to the new design is spool lock, this is a function designed to allow anglers to break-off jigs or lures when snagged, avoiding any danger when placing thumb pressure on the spool. Located on the side plate, spool lock simply locks the spool from turning so snagged lures can be broken off or pulled free.
Ultimate cranking control is available in the new Saltiga 15H, with a large Swept Handle bringing the balance point of the handle closer to the centre of the reel and combines with large, super grip EVA knobs for unmatched cranking power, balance and control. The handle can be adjusted from 75mm to 85mm to increase or decrease speed and power.
Saltiga continues Daiwa's innovation trend by featuring Mag Seal technology. Delivering unrivalled protection in spin reels since it was first introduced in 2010. Mag Seal is a revolutionary system that involves magnetised oil that forms an impenetrable seal that prevents, dust, water and salt intrusion. The latter being a major limiting factor and the Achilles heel of saltwater reels. That was until now, with the Saltiga revelling in the protection and the performance of Mag Seal Ball Bearing. Located on the pinion gear, the result is the elimination of water and salt intrusion, and increased protection and performance. Slamming the door shut on unwanted intruders, Saltiga with new Mag Seal technology is overhead protection and design advancement like you've never before.
Heralding a new dawn in overhead design, the new Saltiga uses the pedigree of its past with the innovation and technology of the future to deliver anglers a new age in performance, and a new age in excellence. The Saltiga overhead is the ultimate deepwater jigging reel, built to take the rigours of extreme saltwater use.
Features:
- Hyper Digigear - Featuring, Daiwa’s famous machine cut gear system, Hyper Digigear, results in silky smooth precision meshing between the main and pinion gear. Ultra tough, surface treated, high tensile alloy drive gear and marine bronze pinion gear allow for increased gear teeth accuracy and improved gear meshing, smoothness, and strength.
- ATD - Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.
- Magsealed bearings - MagSeal protection is no longer just for the main shaft and rotor of a reel with MagSealed Ball Bearings providing ultimate protection for the most at risk location such as the engine side plate and line roller.
- Clicking Drag - A drag system that produces a clicking sound when a fish runs and takes drag.
- CRBB's - Lasting 12 times longer than standard stainless steel bearings Daiwa’s CRBBs feature specially treated stainless steel, and a protective shield on the bearing race that seals out sand, fine grit, salt crystals and other abrasives. The result is a longer lasting bearing that’s protected from the corrosive elements that destroy traditional bearings.
- EVA Knob - Delivered enhanced angler comfort and contact, EVA knobs provide optimum contact in wet conditions.
- Infinite Anti-Reverse - Daiwa's advanced system that limits rearward backplay handle movement to almost zero for solid hooksets with less shock to the reel. The result is the elimination of handle slap-back and the unwanted release of line.
- Magforce Z - The next generation of Daiwa’s magnetic anti-backlash system like Magforce V before it combines the best aspects of modern magnetic and centrifugal breaking, albeit with some slight differences. Unlike Magforce V magnetic braking is only applied at maximum spool speed, as a result it allows the spool to reach a higher peak speed and allows it to spin for longer. Magforce Z is considered to be best suited to longer casting pursuits and heavier weights.
- Magsealed Body - Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MagSeal.
- Super Metal Body - Daiwa’s super aluminium alloy that allows the creation of a reel body that is four times more precise than a machined magnesium body, and with greater corrosion resistance.
