They feed together in schools usually around areas which give them some protection, such as sunken logs, oyster beds, eroded banks or the base of rock walls. Flathead: Best baits are strips of fish flesh, half pilchards and peeled prawns. Flathead are an estuariane species best caught at dawn and dusk with a dead low tide.
